Wednesday 14 March 2012

On 14th March 2012, a group of 23 course members and staff from the Lebanese Joint Services Staff College visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome as part of an exchange programme with the Italian Joint Staff College. The aim was to provide the visitors with an overview of the NDC, its academic programmes and daily activities.
After receiving a warm welcome from the NDC Commandant, Lt.Gen. Arne Bård Dalhaug, the visitors joined colleagues attending the seventh NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC-7) for a lecture by Dr. F. Gaub. The speaker offered an up-to-date perspective on the fascinating subject of “NATO and the Arab World”, addressing further points of interest raised by the audience during the subsequent discussion period.
Following the discussion, NRCC Director Mr. Sandy Guptill provided the guests with an informative briefing on the NDC’s range of courses and related matters. The delegation then participated in a panel discussion on NATO, during which they had the chance to ask questions and express their views not only on relations between NATO and the Arab countries but also on future prospects.
This visit by the Lebanese Joint Services Staff College afforded senior officers excellent practical insight into NATO’s mission and core tasks, as well as on its relations with the Arab countries.
