Tuesday 5 June 2012

On 5th June 2012, a group of 52 course members and staff from the Serbian National Defense School visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome as part of their NATO Study Tour. The delegation, led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Igor Jovičić, included the Commandant of the School, Col. Mile Jelić, and the Secretary General of the Italian Atlantic Committee, Prof. Fabrizio W. Luciolli.
After being welcomed by the Chief of the NDC Public Affairs Office, Lt.Col. Mario Masdea, the head of the delegation paid an office call on the NDC Commandant, Lieutenant General Arne Bård Dalhaug. Lt. Col. Masdea provided the guests with an informative briefing on the NDC’s various courses and daily activities. The delegation then attended a panel discussion with the Director of the NDC Research Division, Dr. Karl-Heinz Kamp, during which they had the chance to gain greater insight into NATO’s current and future initiatives, as well as the way forward after the May 2012 Chicago Summit.
The Serbian National Defense School’s first visit to the NATO Defense College was an excellent opportunity for the course members to gain practical experience of NATO, as well as to enhance their knowledge of different security and defence issues.
