The NDC hosts the Early-Career Nuclear Strategists’ Workshop (ECNSW)

From 1 to 3 July 2019, the NDC hosted the first Early-Career Nuclear Strategists’ Workshop (ECNSW). Organized by the NDC Research Division in cooperation with the Nuclear Policy Directorate at NATO HQ, the event targeted young scholars with expertise in nuclear deterrence: the aim was to enhance and disseminate competencies, understanding and skills, with a view to bringing forward a new generation of nuclear strategists.

Eighth edition of the Senior Executive Regional Conference (SERC 8)

On 21st June 2019, the NATO Defense College (NDC) concluded the eighth edition of the Senior Executive Regional Conference (SERC 8) in Rome. The group of 22 distinguished participants included Ambassadors, diplomats and high-ranking generals, as well as two members of Gulf Royal Families.

Senior Course 134, ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study: Podgorica

Senior Course 134 visited Montenegro on 18 June 2019, on the last stage of its ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study. The delegation was welcomed by Colonel Svetozar Brajković, Deputy Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. This is the NDC’s second visit to Montenegro, underlining the excellent working relationship.

Senior Course 134, ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study: Ankara

Senior Course 134 visited Turkey on 14 and 15 June, on the third stage of its ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study. The Commandant, Course Members and participating Faculty were welcomed by Major General Reha Ufuk Er, Chief of Plans and Policy Division of the Turkish General Staff. He stressed the major virtues of the NATO Alliance as key guiding principles for dealing with contemporary challenges: solidarity, burden sharing, mutual understanding and adaptation.

Senior Course 134, ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study: Sofia

Senior Course 134 visited Bulgaria on 13 June 2019, on the second stage of its ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study. The delegation was welcomed at the Rakovski National Defence College (RNDC) in Sofia by RNDC Commandant MGen Grudi Angelov. This visit was a reflection of the excellent working relations between the RNDC and the NDC.

Senior Course 134, ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study: Bucharest

Senior Course 134 visited Romania on 11 June 2019, on the first stage of its ‘European Perspectives II’ Field Study. The delegation, led by NDC Commandant LGEN Chris Whitecross, was welcomed at the National Defence University (NDU) in Bucharest by NDU Commandant BGEN Gheorghe Calopareanu. This visit underlined the excellent cooperation between the NDU and the NDC.
