The NDC Welcomes a Japanese Delegation
On 2 March, a delegation of the Government of Japan and the National Institute of Defence Studies (NIDS) visited the NATO Defense College. The delegation, headed by Ms Maki Kobayashi-Terada, Director European Policy Division (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Colonel Takayasu Yamashita (NIDS), comprised a number of Defence Attachés from across Europe as well as NIDS Senior Fellows. All were warmly welcomed by the Dean and Acting Commandant, Brigadier General (ret) František Mičánek.
Participants were offered a number of briefings by analysts from NIDS and the NDC Research Division. Ensuing discussions covered a broad range of issues spanning mutual threat perceptions, NATO Warsaw Summit outcomes, the Anti-Access/Area Denial (A2/AD) challenge and military-technical developments in Europe and Asia. The visit concluded with a tour of NDC educational and research facilities. First-hand explanations of the activities of the Middle East Faculty were offered by Dr Kevin Koehler, and of the Library/Knowledge Centre, by its Head, Mr Giuseppe Vitiello.
