SC130 Field Study – The Transatlantic Link
SC130 is back in Rome after two weeks of Field Study dedicated to a better understanding of NATO and the so-called “Transatlantic Link”.
During these two weeks, Course Members enjoyed visits to important institutions:
- In Belgium: NATO Headquarters, the strategic command ACO, the European Union and the Belgian Headquarters;
- In Canada: the Canadian Armed Forces, to understand their role in NATO;
- In the United States: the other strategic command, ACT in Norfolk, where there were meetings with Flag Officers and specialists to discuss the topics related to CMs’ study project and individual papers. In Washington: the IMF and the World Bank. The last stop was in New York, within the DPKO, which works on just about all the most important UN missions in the world, and an impressive visit to the 9/11 memorial.
The head of delegation, BG (ret) Micanek, Dean of the NDC, recognizes the work and the competence of all involved and would like to thank them for the perfect organization and results achieved in this Field Study, which was absolutely in line with the College mission.
On behalf of the College authorities, he also thanks the Governments of Belgium, Canada and the United States for their support, and the NATO authorities for their dedication to the College.
