Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Seminar
On Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 November, a 2-day seminar on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region took place in the NATO Defence College. The main objectives were to provide a strategic overview of the major political-military and security-related issues in the region, and to discuss the main conflicts there and the potential for conflict resolution and state building.
On the opening day, a panel of five experts first made an overall analysis of the region, and then focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. SC 133 Course Members had the opportunity, in the afternoon, to participate in a very enlightening in-depth discussion with the panel.
On the second day, participants worked in small groups for detailed examination of specific topics. Mentored by the five subject matter experts, the groups were able, in the afternoon, to present their viewpoints and comments, resulting from the morning’s consensus-basis discussions.
The MENA Seminar was organized and moderated by NDC Faculty Adviser Ms Nancy Vellone (ITA C).
