The Modular Short Course provides high-level education to military officers and civilian officials who may not be able to attend the NATO Defense College for the six month duration of a Senior Course (SC). The NDC organizes five MSCs per Senior Course and each MSC is designed to both inform and stimulate.

The attendees were welcomed, on Monday morning, by NDC Commandant LGEN Chris Whitecross before attending the first lecture “The United Nations (UN) and International Courts” given by Prof. Mats Berdal (NOR) and Dr Giulia Pinzauti (ITA).

Lectures during the rest of the week were as follows: “The European Union (EU), roles and institutions. The European Union's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP)”, by Dr Peter Van Ham (NLD) and Dr Thierry Tardy (FRA), Director of NDC Research Division; “NATO and the EU: Cooperation areas, opportunities and challenges” by Mr Alexandros Papaioannu (GRC) and Dr Thierry Tardy (FRA); “Regional Organizations and their impact on Global Security. The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
