2016 Liaison Officers' Planning Conference
From 1-3 February 2016, the NATO Defense College hosted a group of 19 Liaison Officers from 15 different NATO and Partner countries taking part in the annual Planning Conference.
The annual Liaison Officers’ Planning Conference took place at the NATO Defense College in the first three days of February 2016. A team of 19 officers gathered at the College in order to discuss both short- and long-term issues relating to the Senior Course curriculum, and more specifically to the Field Studies, an integral part of this 5 month-long programme.
The aim of this year’s conference was to plan the Field Studies for the next courses (Senior Courses 128 and 129) in the most cost-effective manner possible, by harmonizing the academic programmes and logistics.
Upon arrival, participants were warmly welcomed by the NDC Commandant MGen Janusz Bojarski (POL F) who opened the conference. Further briefings on the NDC curriculum and the importance of the Field Studies programme were made by MGen Pascal Valentin (FRA A), Director of the Academic Operations Division; by Col Erick Landes (FRA A), Head of the Curriculum Planning Branch; and by Col Andrea Tiveron (ITA A), Head of the Academic Field Studies Branch.
In light of the constantly evolving security environment and the changing needs of the Alliance, the Conference updated the Field Studies programme to enable Course Members to obtain maximum benefit from it.
