As part of the Summer Field Studies on \u201cEuropean Perspectives\u201d, Senior Course 114 has been briefed, at the NATO Defense College, by Italian Representatives on the occasion of the Italian National Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first lecturer was Major General Pasquale PREZIOSA, Chief of the 3rd Department, Military Policy and Planning, who gave a presentation on \u201cDefence: Policy, Priorities and Operations\u201d, covering the international scenario and Italian Missions. He underlined the value of the comprehensive approach as a response to the new Transnational challenges. Touching on the Italian operations he emphasized the importance of transformation that is the real key of success, coherent with the transformation of NATO and EU.<\/p>\n

Dr. Salvatore GUGLIELMINO, Director of the Office for Coordination and Planning of Police Forces, International Relations Service of the Ministry of Interior, lectured on \u201cInternational Security (Policies and Priorities)\u201d and underlined the importance of international police cooperation. During his presentation he outlined the three different channels of Police Cooperation Service: INTERPOL, EUROPOL and S.LRE.N.E. that are the major pillars of the internationalization of the Italian Police.<\/p>\n

The last speaker was Counsellor Carlo BATORI, NATO and Military Office of the Directorate for Multilateral and Political Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He presented the three main pillars of Italian Foreign Policy that are always oriented to a multilateral approach: EU, UN, NATO, explaining the relationships between these three institutions and Italy. He also spoke about areas that are priorities for Italy:<\/p>\n
