On Friday 10th April, the thirteenth NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC – 13) and members of the NDC’s Middle East Faculty (MEF), led by MEF Director Colonel Giuseppe Morabito, were hosted in Naples at the Institute of Research on Innovation and Service for Development (Istituto di Ricerca su Innovazione e Servizi per lo Sviluppo-IRISS). The purpose of the visit was to attend and participate in a conference dedicated to recent developments on migration across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

Col Giuseppe Morabito introduced the sessions, while the first presentation entitled “Migrations and Migration Policies in the Mediterranean Countries” was given by Professor Enrico Pugliese, Professor Emiretus of Sociology of Labour at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. The second and last presentation, “Migrations through Mediterranean Corridors: Some Law of the Sea and Human Rights Issues”, was provided by Professor Giuseppe Cataldi, Professor of International Law at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and Director at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Migrants’ Rights in the Mediterranean. <\/p>\n
