On 26 and 27 November, the NATO Defense College, under the leadership of Faculty Advisor Nancy Vellone (IT) organized the Middle East Seminar for Senior Course 135.<\/p>\n
Dr Pierre Razoux (FRA), Dr Nicola Pedde (ITA) and Dr Jean-Loup Samaan (FRA) delivered briefings on the policies and challenges in the region, with a further specific chapter dedicated to Iran and another on the Arab Gulf countries, analyzing security challenges, as well as present and future trends.<\/p>\n
A second panel with Prof. Ilan Greilsammer (ISR) and Dr Alaa Tartir (PSE) briefed Course Members on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On the second day, working groups discussed the issues in greater detail with the help of the experts.<\/p>\n
Two Q&A sessions gave participants the opportunity to also examine counter terrorism, mass migration and other main drivers of instability in the region, and to consider how NATO and the EU could best promote security and stability in this area. <\/p>\n
