Held in conjunction with the SC139\u2019s academic programme, from 11 to 15 October 2021, Modular Short Course 139-3 (MSC 139-3) and Modular Short Course \u2013 Partner Integrated (MSC-PI) participants heard lectures on \u201cContemporary NATO\u201d, providing Course members with insights into some global security challenges.<\/p>\n

The newly named Modular Short Course \u2013 Partner Integrated (MSC-PI) – formerly Integrated Partner Orientation Course (IPOC) – gives the opportunity to Course Members from Partner Nations from the Partnership for Peace, the Mediterranean Dialogue, the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and Global Partners to exchange views with Course Members from NATO nations. <\/p>\n

The week is designed to analyse the complex, challenging and evolving environment in which NATO operates today with a view to considering how NATO must change and adapt for the Alliance to remain a relevant and effective force for good, both now and for the future.<\/p>\n

Some of the topics included during the discussions were \u201cNATO and the Transatlantic Link\u201d; \u201cHow NATO Works\u201d; \u201cThe Role of NATO in the Current Security Environment\u201d; \u201cNATO Partnerships: Opportunities and Issues\u201d and \u201cDeterrence and the Defence of the Euro-Atlantic Space\u201d.<\/p>\n
