From 16 to 18 April, the NATO Defense College hosted a workshop organized by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) gathering the NATO Education and Training Facilities (NETFs) to discuss their approach to Digital Transformation and how they can work together towards this objective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop brought together the NDC Commandant, Lieutenant General Max A.L.T. Nielsen, the Deputy Chief Information Officer at OCIO, Brigadier General Krzysztof Kociuba, the Director of the NCI Academy, Dr Garry Hargreaves, and Colonel Jay Smith from the NATO School Oberammergau. They outlined the journey of their respective institutions towards increased efficiency for NATO learning initiatives, and discussed how to ensure a coherent approach in embracing digital technologies and innovative strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first part of the workshop focused on highlighting the respective approaches and challenges of each participating NETF. Identifying commonalities and distinctions allowed a joint reflection on how to implement a consistent vision and collaborative actions toward digitalization. The second part of the workshop allowed the leaders of each entity to commit to a joint statement of intent:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith a shared purpose, we will support the development of NATO and Partner Nations\u2019 people and processes. We are jointly committed to collaborating and synergizing in order to serve our stakeholders, partners and learners. We will co-create and share best practices and knowledge. We will build together more coherent, more robust, and more relevant enterprise learning and development frameworks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision aligns with NATO’s Digital Transformation vision statement: \u201cBy 2030, NATO Digital Transformation will enable the Alliance to conduct multi-domain operations, ensure interoperability across all domains, enhance situational awareness and facilitate political consultation and data-driven decision-making.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
