NATO Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe Visits the NATO Defense College

On 25 January, the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), General Sir Tim Radford KCB DSO OBE, visited the NATO Defense College for the first time since assuming his duties in April 2020. He was accompanied by Lieutenant-Colonel Laurent Hurez and Captain Hattie Arkwright.

NDC hosts expert presentation on the future of military conscription in Europe

On 13 January, the NATO Defense College Research Division and Academic Operations Division co-hosted Dr. Johan Österberg, Lecturer at the Swedish Defence University, and Dr. Tibor Szvircsev Tresch, Head of Military Sociology at the Military Academy at ETH Zurich, for a joint presentation of their recent research on military conscription in Europe.

Visit of the Spanish Ambassador to Rome, H.E. Mr Miguel Angel Fernandez PALACIOS

On Tuesday 20 December, the newly appointed Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of Italy, His Excellency Mr Miguel Angel Fernandez Palacios – whose former assignment, from 2018 to 2022, was as Spain’s Permanent Representative to NATO, and is a graduate from the NDC Generals, Flag Officers and Ambassadors’ Course– paid a courtesy visit to the NATO Defense College and its Commandant, Lieutenant-General Olivier Rittimann.

On Monday 19 December, the British Ambassador to Italy and San Marino, His Excellency, the Right Honourable Lord Edward Llewellyn, OBE, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC), accompanied by the British Defence Attaché, Colonel Matt Smith (NDC Ancien of Senior Course 137), and Ms Julia Mariotti, Defence Relations Officer at the British Embassy, in Rome.
