On 31 March, Course Members of NRCC 25 took a virtual and in-depth tour of the NATO Strategic Direction South (NSD-S) Hub. In this one-day workshop, NSD-S representatives explained the Hub’s mission and role: to connect Allies and partners with international, non-governmental and civil organizations through open dialogue towards universal understanding, trust and stability.

The morning session was devoted to an introduction to the NSD-S Hub’s activities and organizational structure presented by BGEN Davide Re, the Director of the Hub. The overview was followed by an insightful Q&A session which allowed CMs to fully appreciate the mission of the NSD-S Hub.

The afternoon session commenced with opening remarks by COL Ghislain Lancrenon, NSD-S Hub Deputy Director, Dr. Chloe Berger, Faculty Adviser and Researcher at the NDC, and Dr. Ako Rhuks, Representative for Africa Union. Course Members then attended the virtual workshop organized by the NSD-S Hub team. A first panel presented the issue of the Youth Bulge in the MENA region, a topic which was then broken down into three specific issues: session one focused on Empowerment and Radicalization; session two was about Migration and Brain Drain; and session three focused on Education and Employment. Dr. Chloe Berger moderated the comments and questions session. Lastly, the Chairs from both panels delivered the “findings of the day”, which was followed by the concluding remarks made by the NSD-S Hub.
