The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) visits the NATO Defense College

On 21 of October 2022, the European Law Student’s Association (ELSA) from Milan, Italy, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC). The visit was one of several official visits to the most important government institutions in the Italian Capital.

Ms. Sara Allushi, Vice-President for Seminars & Conferences of ELSA, led the 20-member delegation. The purpose of the visit was learn more about the values by which NATO operates and the impact of current international events , along with discussions on the principles of cooperation and security.
The delegation received a comprehensive briefing delivered by the NDC Director of Enablement, Brigadier General Riccardo Brizi, on the history, structure, and main activities of the NDC, which was followed by a Q&A session.
Dr. Andrea Gilli, Senior Researcher at the NDC, delivered a lecture entitled “Drone Wars in Recent Conflicts”. His presentation focused on the role of drones and their evolution; the revolutionary advent of are in military affairs, and how they are integrated in air defense systems. He then presented a case-study focused on the role of drones in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, which was concluded by a Q&A session to wrap up the day.
