On 24 and 25 June 2024, the NDC’s Research Division and SHAPE’s Political and Security Analysis Branch held a horizon-scanning workshop entitled “Strategic Outlook Western Balkans, 2026”.
NATO officials gathered in Rome with subject matter experts and representatives of international organizations to identify upcoming events and emergent trends. Besides helping NATO staff integrate strategic foresight into their work, the meeting served to establish a network of experts and practitioners. The Research Division designed the methodology which was further refined over the two days.
