On 18 February 2025, the NATO Defense College (NDC) inaugurated the latest editions of its flagship courses: Senior Course 146 (SC 146) and NATO Regional Cooperation Course 33 (NRCC 33). Together, these courses welcome a cohort of 121 participants representing 43 nationalities and 6 services, including diplomats, military personnel, and civil servants.

The NDC Commandant LGEN Max A.L.T. Nielsen opened the ceremony by welcoming the new Course Members and emphasizing that diversity is essential for developing future security strategies. He noted that while the security environment remains complex and unpredictable, cooperation among NATO members is crucial for ensuring safety and prosperity.
Over the coming months, Course Members will engage with top subject-matter experts and exchange perspectives on the key challenges facing transatlantic security, strengthening NATO’s unity and cohesion.
The guest of honour, Admiral Sir Keith Blount KCB OBE, NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), delivered an inspiring Inauguration Address, emphasizing that we are living a pivotal moment for global security, making NDC courses essential for understanding the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for NATO and international security. He also underscored the critical role of interoperability among NATO Allies and partners in addressing current and future threats and strengthening the Alliance. Courses at the NATO Defense College will play a key role in fostering this interoperability.
