From 24 February to 7 March 2025, 23 military officers and civilian officials from 12 NATO member states attended the Modular Short Course on Contemporary NATO. This intensive two-week programme provided participants with comprehensive insights into NATO's history, organizational structure, and decision-making processes, while examining its evolving role in today’s international security landscape.

The Modular Short Course (MSC) 146 1 and 2 offer military and civilian officials the opportunity to engage with NATO-related study periods without committing to the longer durations of the 22-week Senior Course (SC) or the 10-week NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC) at the NATO Defense College (NDC).

Participants engaged in insightful lectures and dynamic discussions on the changing global security environment, analysing current threats, challenges, and opportunities facing the Alliance. Key topics included NATO's origins during the Cold War and the evolution of the transatlantic relationship, the Alliance’s internal structures and processes, and its core security concepts: conventional and nuclear deterrence and defence, cooperative security and partnerships, and crisis prevention and management.

The course provided a platform for participants to exchange knowledge and experiences on critical NATO-related security issues with their peers and leading subject-matter experts.
