Second Stop on Field Study 2 for Senior Course 141: Ottawa

On 4 and 5 November 2022 Senior Course 141 travelled to Ottawa, Canada, as the second capital to be visited as part of Field Study 2, with several briefings focused on Canada’s security and defence policies, looking at the national and international level.

From 31 October to 2 November 2022, Senior Course 141 travelled to Brussels for the first leg of Field Study 2. Course Members attended several briefings at SHAPE and NATO Headquarters.

Graduation Ceremony for NATO Regional Cooperation Course 28

The Graduation Ceremony for the 28th NATO Regional Cooperation Course, with 35 Course Members representing 20 different nationalities, took place on Friday, 4 November 2022 at the NATO Defense College’s Main Auditorium. Ambassadors, Italian Authorities and Defense Attachés attended the event, as did Course Members’ families and NDC Staff.

NDC sponsors The Kingston Conference on International Security

From 11-13 October, the NDC Research Division continued its regular sponsorship of the annual Kingston Conference on International Security (KCIS) organized by the Centre for International and Defence Policy (CIDP) at Queen’s University. Other conference sponsors included the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre and the Strategic Studies Institute of the United States Army War College. The theme this year was “International Competition in the High North”.

From 24 to 27 October 2022, a delegation from the Iraqi National Defense College (INDC) – which is part of the Defense University of Higher Military Studies (DUHMS) – visited the NATO Defense College (NDC).

NDC-NIRC: Inauguration of Joint Modular Short Course “Gulf Week”

From 17 to 20 October 2022, the NATO Defense College (NDC) held the first Modular Short Course “Gulf Week” in cooperation with the NATO-ICI Regional Centre (NIRC) in Kuwait, aimed at Istanbul Cooperative Initiative and Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) visits the NATO Defense College

On 21 of October 2022, the European Law Student’s Association (ELSA) from Milan, Italy, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC). The visit was one of several official visits to the most important government institutions in the Italian Capital.

Modular Short Courses on “Contemporary NATO” (MSC 141-2 and MSCP 141-1)

Modular Short Course 141-2 and Modular Short Course – Partner Integrated 141-1 (MSC 141-2 and MSCP 141-1) on “Contemporary NATO” both took place at the NATO Defense College (NDC) from 17 to 21 of October 2022. The Courses ran in parallel with Senior Course 141 and are designed to analyse the complex, challenging and evolving environment in which NATO operates, and how the Alliance adapts to remain relevant and effective in the future.
