The NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations visits the NATO Defense College

On 11 March 2019, the NATO Defense College hosted NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Dr John Manza.
Dr Manza was briefed on the core activities and mission of the College by the NDC Dean, Dr Stephen Mariano, and the Research Division Director, Dr Thierry Tardy. An exhaustive discussion followed, affording a valuable opportunity to improve synergies between NATO HQ and the College.
Dr Manza also spent time in discussion with two Committees of the NDC Modular Short Course, led by NDC Faculty Adviser Colonel Laurent Currit. This very beneficial roundtable covered some crucial NATO topics:
- the Readiness Initiative (how to put this into effect);
- burden sharing (few Allies have fulfilled the 2% pledge – this topic will be discussed in Washington in April);
- operations in Afghanistan/Iraq/Kosovo;
- NATO cooperation with IOs (OSCE, UN, EU);
- Libya.
