Xth Edition of the Festival of Diplomacy

From 17 to 25 October 2019, the Research Division contributed to the 10th Edition of the Festival of Diplomacy which was also co-sponsored by the NATO Defense College (NDC), amongst other partners.
The Festival of Diplomacy is a yearly event fostering analysis on strategic issues and covering a wide range of topics: security, climate change, NATO, energy security, geopolitics, conflict prevention, artificial intelligence and new technologies, Brexit, China, hybrid warfare, just to name a few.
The event is hosted by and spread between Rome-based Embassies and Institutes for Culture, Think Tanks and Universities, the Center for American Studies, the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI), the Chamber of Deputies, MFA-affiliated offices, attracting security and military experts, students, academics and the press.
NDC Contribution to the Xth Edition of the Festival of Diplomacy
Dr. Mariano, Dean of the NDC was invited to speak at a panel focusing on “France and Italy. The continued Instability in Lybia” at the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI) attended by former Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Franco Frattini, (President of SIOI).
Dr Andrea Gilli, Senior Researcher, Research Division, NDC, participated as speaker in the following events:
- Round Table on “Artificial Intelligence: Ethics and Algorithmic Biases” organized by the John Cabot University;
- Conference on “Has a New Cold War Really Begun?” organized at the Center for American Studies;
- Panel on “NATO and the 70th Anniversary: Future challenges” organized at Roma Tre University.
Dr Giray Sadik, Eisenhower Research Fellow, NDC, participated as speaker in the panel on “Hybrid Warfare”, organized at the International University.
