NATO NextGen Futures

Launched in early 2025, NATO NextGen Futures brings together fifty young security analysts, selected through a competitive process from over 350 applicants.

Built around a forecasting platform, the initiative allows officials from across the Alliance to pose questions about the likelihood of key events or trends. Cohort members will respond collectively, offering rapid assessments and exploring the implications through collaborative debate.
But this group is tasked with more than forecasting. Alongside probability estimates, they will examine second-order effects, question assumptions, and surface overlooked dynamics shaping the future of war and warfare.
The platform acts both as a sounding board and a kind of strategic sonar—supporting reflection while scanning for weak signals and emerging disruptions. Much of the work will take place behind the scenes, through direct exchanges and internal discussion, but insights will be shared publicly where possible.
Over time, the platform is intended to become a standing resource for NATO officials to engage with analysts, explore foresight tools, and access fresh, unconventional perspectives.
