On 2nd July 2013, 78 members of the Turkish Armed Forces Academy (TUFA) visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome. The delegation was led by MajGen Mete Salt.
This visit was intended to give the delegation an overview of the mission and activities of the NDC.
On arrival, MajGen Mete Salt was invited to join the Commandant, LtGen Arne Bård Dalhaug (NOR A), for an office call and the delegates were warmly welcomed by Counsellor Ayça Oşafoğlu, Senior National Representative of Turkey at the NDC.
Afterwards, the delegation spent time in the Maynard-Thorn Auditorium with the Dean of the NDC, Dr. Richard D. Hooker, who provided a detailed explanation of the College’s structure and the courses it offers.
Following the Dean’s presentation, the group was invited to join Senior Course 122 for a lecture on the subject of Negotiation, Mediation and Decision-Making.
The TUFA, founded in 1951, is a co-educational military academy located in Istanbul. It has superseded the former Army Flight School as the training centre for commissioned officers of the Turkish Air Force, providing courses in engineering and related disciplines for Air Force cadets from Turkey and a number of other countries.
