On 10th March 2014, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Italy and to the Republic of San Marino, H.E. Li Ruiyu, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) for the first time. The visit was intended to give the Chinese Ambassador an overview of the mission and activities of the NDC.
Ambassador Li Ruiyu was graciously welcomed on arrival by Lieutenant General Arne Bård Dalhaug (NOR A), NDC Commandant. After a cordial meeting in the Commandant’s office, the Ambassador received a briefing on the courses and related activities which form the core of the College’s mission. Dr Daria Daniels Skodnik (SVN C), NDC Dean; Commodore Harald Hakonsen (NOR N), NDC Director of Management; all the senior flag officers and Dr Guillaume Lasconjarias (FRA C), representing the NDC Research Division, attended the meeting. This was an excellent opportunity for the Ambassador and his delegation to better understand the NDC’s role as NATO’s premier academic institution, the structure of the College and its academic activities.
LtGen Dalhaug then accompanied Ambassador Li Ruiyu on a tour of the NDC premises, providing information on the history of the College and its daily activities.
