On 23 and 24 January 2019, Senior Course 135 Committee Study Project (CSP) presentations took place at the NATO Defense College. The event was held in the presence of NDC Commandant Lieutenant General Chris Whitecross; Vice Chief of Staff SHAPE and NDC Commandant designate, Lieutenant General Olivier Rittimann; NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for the Defence Investment Division, Mr Gordon “Skip” Davis; and the Director of the NATO Defense College Foundation, Dr Alessandro Politi.
On the first day, in the presence of LGEN Whitecross, LGEN Rittimann and Dr Politi, four Committees presented their projects on different NATO-related topics: projecting stability, partnerships, and possible future challenges in the High North and from China.
On the following day, the presentations of the remaining four Committees were also attended by Mr Davis . The topics of the presentations were NATO’s defence and deterrence posture, the transatlantic link, resilience, and the Alliance’s future capability development.
A Study Project, collectively drafted and presented by an individual Committee, is a major exercise in critical analysis and consensus-building that affords an excellent consolidation of the entire Senior Course. Working on Study Projects offers a unique opportunity to improve skills required for working in a multinational environment.
