The presentations of Senior Course 140’s Committee Study Projects (CSPs) took place on 8 and 9 July 2022. This activity is one of the highlights of the Course and the final academic phase for Course Members. It represents the culmination of several months of team work, strategic thinking and consensus-building.
Over these two days, the eight Committees presented the findings of their research – a process that began in the first weeks of the Course ¬– to their peers, special guests and the jury panel. Each Course Member first wrote an individual paper, which then contributed to the overall committee project. Each project is dedicated to NATO-related topics.
The two major learning objectives of this activity include demonstrating strategic thinking and applying consensus-building skills in answering a research question. Each Committee works with the support of a Mentor, a Faculty Advisor and a Supporting Flag Officer through the entire process.
The special guests attending SC 140 presentations were Sir Michael Leigh, Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States and Academic Director of European Public Policy and Global Risk at Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies; and Lieutenant General Gábor Böröndi, Hungarian Military Representative to the NATO and EU Military Committees. Sir Michael Leigh joined the panel of judges together with the NDC Dean, the NDC Director of Management, and NDC Division Heads. The judges will decide which Committee will be awarded the Eisenhower Prize on Graduation day for presenting the best CSP.
The presentations concluded with closing remarks delivered by the two special guests and the NDC Commandant.
