
Today, 30 March, Admiral Mark FITZGERALD, Commander Joint Force Command (JFC) Naples, delivered the second lecture in the study period on “NATO in Transformation”, entitled “Strategic Challenges of Current Operations”.
In a detailed overview of NATO’s diverse array of missions, the Admiral discussed NATO’s commitments in the Balkans, particularly the Kosovo peacekeeping operation and its aims; Operation Active Endeavour and Article 5 missions; Operation Allied Provider to the coast of Somalia, and the NATO Training Mission in Iraq and the assistance provided to the national police. All these commitments will continue to drive the Alliance’s agenda as a main actor contributing to stabilization and security in different areas of intervention.
