On Friday, 20 November 2009, the NATO Defense College had the honour to host H.E. Ambassador Dmitry ROGOZIN, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to NATO, who delivered a Lecture of Opportunity on the relationship between the Russian Federation and the NATO.
The Commandant, Lieutenant General Wolf-Dieter LOESER, welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation to the College. During the Commandant’s Office Call the Ambassador signed the guest of honour book and met the College leadership. He was then accompanied to the Maynard-Thorn Auditorium where, after a brief introduction by the Commandant, he took the floor.
In his speech, the Ambassador voiced his concerns about the scarcity of natural resources. He stressed the need for joint efforts to face this challenge, and the importance of a tighter strategic relationship, close cooperation and adjustment of technology to requirements.
Ambassador ROGOZIN’s wide overview of the main current issues gave a clear picture of Russian expectations regarding cooperation with the Alliance. During a very remarkable Q&A period, the Ambassador provided very interesting points of view in response to questions about major present-day topics.
