Although – as the NATO Secretary General has pointed out – the Mali crisis is not a case to be dealt with by NATO, member nations of the Alliance are involved in the stabilization effort in Africa. In addition, the crisis might have ramifications for the broader region and also for security in Europe.
The new report from the NATO Defense College tries to explain the origins of the crisis, its implications for the countries involved, and possible outcomes.
