Does Russia still matter? After more than 20 years of cooperation, NATO-Russia relations continue to lose momentum.
NATO and Russia share fundamental interests, but the Russian Armed Forces have not become an operational partner of Alliance forces. At the same time, the Asia-Pacific is becoming more important for NATO nations and for Russia itself, which is trying to define its status as a Euro-Pacific power.
The Research Division of the NATO Defense College, in collaboration with the International Military Staff at NATO HQ, ran an experts’ roundtable entitled “Does Russia Matter?” to discuss these issues and possible strategies on how to deal with Russia. The key findings of the roundtable can be found in the latest NDC conference report.
