Modular Short Course 137-2 and the Integrated Partner Orientation Course (IPOC) took place the week of 19 October, focusing on “NATO: Present & Future”. A cohort of 12 Kuwaitis from various national security institutions participated, representing the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. Participants completed the Course online. Ten senior military and civilian Course Members from NATO nations and four representatives from partner nations (Switzerland, Tunisia & Afghanistan) attended the Course at the College, working in two committees.
“We seek to provide the most up-to-date information about NATO,” commented the Commandant of the NDC during his opening remarks, explaining that the main goal of the Course is to facilitate a better knowledge and understanding of NATO and its fundamental and enduring dynamics.
Topics covered this week included NATO and the Transatlantic Link; Projecting Stability and Crisis Management; NATO Conventional and Nuclear Deterrence and NATO Partnership Opportunities and Challenges. Course Members attending this Modular Short Course also had the opportunity to listen to the Commander of the NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), Lieutenant General Roger L. Cloutier.
