The ceremony for the signing of Addendum 2 to the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Italian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the NATO Military Committee (MC) took place at NATO Defense College on 26 May. The draft of Addendum 2 to the MoA between the MOD and the NATO MC regarding support to the NDC, worked out jointly by the representatives of the Italian MOD and the NDC, was approved by the NATO International Military Staff and released for final signature.
The Signing Authorities were Lt Gen. Domenico VILLANI, Italian Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (DCHOD), for the Italian Ministry of Defence, and Lt Gen. Wolf-Dieter LOESER (NDC Commandant), for the NATO Military Committee.
The Agreement between the Italian Ministry of Defence and the NATO Military Committee regarding the Support to the NATO Defense College in Rome was signed in Rome on 4 September 2002 by Lt Gen. CAMPORINI (then DCHOD), for the Italian Ministry of Defence, and Lt Gen. RAFFENNE (then NDC Commandant), for the NATO Military Committee.
In 2005, following minor readjustments, Addendum 1 was released and signed by Lt Gen. CASTAGNETTI (then DCHOD) and Lt Gen. VANKEIRSBILCK (then NDC Commandant).
In 2008 major changes in the College structure and management demanded a revision of the MoA. However, since the changes had no effect on the spirit of the Agreement or on the type, quantity and quality of the support provided by the Host Nation, it was decided not to redraft the Agreement completely but to produce a new Addendum, number 2, superseding the previous one.
