On Friday 11 April 2014, the NATO Defense College (NDC) was honoured to receive H.E. Veselin Sukovic, Ambassador of Montenegro to the Holy See and to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. A delegation representing a number of academic institutions from Montenegro, composed of Mrs Satka Hajdarpašić, Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; Mr Djordjije Blažić, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and European Studies in Podgorica; and Professor Olivera Injac from the Donja Gorica University in Podgorica, completed the official party.
The aim of the visit was to have a general overview of the College’s objectives and details about its activities.
Upon arrival, the visitors were warmly welcomed by the Dean of the College, Dr Daria Daniels Skodnik (SVN C).
The official party also had the opportunity to attend SC 124’s daily lecture, on the subject of “NATO’s Partnership Initiatives”. The seminar was introduced by a panel of three distinguished NATO experts: Dr Alberto Bin (ITA), Director of Partnerships and Cooperation in the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division at NATO HQ in Brussels; RAdm Emil Eftimov (BGR), Director of Cooperation and Regional Security Division at NATO HQ; and Dr Heidi Reisinger (DEU), from the NDC Research Division.
The delegation was then briefed by the Head of the Academic Policy Branch, Col Kent Soebbing (USA A), who spoke about the NDC’s mission, its objectives and the main features of College courses. After the briefing the group participated in a stimulating round table session with the Dean and senior NDC leaders.
The visit was an excellent opportunity for the Montenegrin delegation to better understand the NDC’s role as NATO’s premier academic institution.
