Brussels, Belgium – On 8 November 2022, the NDC co-hosted an annual workshop on ‘Military Alliances and the Challenges to the Use of Military Force’ in collaboration with the European Initiative on Security Studies (EISS) and the Centre for Security, Diplomacy, and Strategy (CSDS) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
The workshop began with a panel, where selected authors presented papers and received feedback from the discussants and the audience. A second panel then discussed the diverse ways that NATO and the EU consider the use of force in their respective operations, with speakers from both NATO HQ and the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the European Union.
