Julia Rushchenko

Dr Julia Rushchenko joined the NDC as the 2021 Partnership for Peace (PfP) Fellow. She is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Policing at the University of West London. Previously, she held a number of research appointments at the University of Kent, Utrecht University, and the University of California, San Diego.

Julia has a track record of advising think tanks in London and international organisations worldwide, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on national security and combating violent extremism. She has carried out academic projects in different field locations such as Indonesia, Jordan and Lebanon.

Julia holds a PhD in Criminology, and her research interests include radicalisation, prisons, counter extremism and gender. During her time at NDC, Julia will be working on the project that explores NATO partnerships and the WPS (women, peace and security) agenda.
