On 17th May 2012, the NATO Defense College (NDC) was honoured to receive a visit from Lieutenant General Frank Panter (USMC), Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics, Washington, DC. He was warmly welcomed by the NDC Commandant, Lieutenant General Arne Bård Dalhaug.
As part of the programme, LtGen Panter was given an informative briefing on the NDC by the Dean, Dr. Richard Hooker. This was followed by a guided tour of the College and its facilities.
LtGen Panter then addressed Senior Course 120 on the topic “Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Operations”. His field experience ranges from service in the Vietnam War to command of the Combined Support Group-Sri Lanka Operation “Unified Assistance” for US tsunami disaster relief assistance in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. He has also been responsible for earthquake disaster area operations, involving deployment of humanitarian aid to Pakistan and command of US emergency relief in Indonesia. The lecture was followed by a discussion, during which the speaker shared his practical experience and addressed additional points of interest raised by Course Members.
