The NATO Defense College (NDC) Research Division and Institute for Security Studies (ISS) with the support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ethiopia— North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Contact Mission to the African Union (AU)— are seeking papers to be presented at an International Research Symposium to be convened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 01
March 2012 addressing “AU-NATO Relations: Implications and Prospects”.
The Symposium aims to bring together leading experts and scholars from Africa and the Euro-Atlantic
area to analyse and discuss with senior policy makers, civil society and the research community, the future of the AU-NATO strategic relationship in the field of peace and security since the inauguration of NATO support to the AU in 2005. A compendium of selected papers will be jointly published by the NDC and ISS following the Symposium to foster continued informed dialogue about the ways and means to guide AU-NATO relations along a positive trajectory in the interests of international peace and security.
