The NATO Public Affairs Conference is now in progress at the NATO Defense College, with the theme NATO at sixty – emerging public affairs. During the four days of debates, aspects of NATO strategic communication policy will be examined by distinguished speakers. In particular, ISAF field experiences will be analyzed, alongside the challenges of new media, the emerging media, and the future of the NATO Countries Public Affairs Community.
Participants were welcomed this morning by the DEAN of the NATO Defense College, Dr Grant T. HAMMOND. The opening remarks will be made this afternoon by the Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Giampaolo DI PAOLA. There are great expectations among participants about the lectures that will be given over the next few days – by Mr Nik GOWING, from the BBC; Mr Jean Francois Bureau, Assistant Secretary General; Ms Sarah NAGELMANN, Special Advisor to SACEUR; and Commander Giovanni GALOFORO, IMS Deputy Public Affairs Advisor. The final keynote speech will be delivered by SACEUR, Admiral James STAVRIDIS, whose participation in the Conference underlines the level of importance attained by Public Affairs within NATO.
