On April 29 a delegation of nine students from the master’s degree course in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Relations (SAIS) visited the NATO Defense College in order to gain a better insight into its activities.
The students attended the lectures on “Markets of violence” and “Africa and the case of Sudan” delivered by Professor Kenneth OMEJE to the NATO Regional Cooperation Course, run by the NDC’s Middle East Faculty.
After the lectures, Lt. Col. Mario MASDEA, Chief Public Affairs, gave a briefing on College activities to the guests, who displayed a lively interest during the intensive Q&A period that followed.
The group also took advantage of the visit to ask questions about career and professional opportunities in the defence and security field. The NDC Dean, Dr Grant T. HAMMOND, a former SAIS student, met them and explained the kind of choices that can enhance their professional background.
For the students it was an excellent opportunity to be in contact for the very first time with the NDC and to learn about NATO’s structure and aims – information that will be very useful to them in their future careers in the domain of strategic sciences.
