The NATO Defense College (NDC) convened its Annual Meeting of Senior Non-Resident Associate Fellows (NRAF) on 10 and 11 March 2025. This meeting brought together some 30 participants from NATO and partner countries, including Non-Resident Senior Associates, Resident Fellows, and the NDC Research Division Researchers. The primary objective was to foster mutual understanding both personally and professionally and to encourage future collaborations to improve and expand the College’s expertise.
The two-day meeting began with opening remarks from Dr Nielsen, the Dean of the NDC, who set the tone for collaboration. Dr Nielsen emphasized that the NDC did not just want to create a set of authors working for the College, but a community of interests, a network of knowledge, a relationship. The NRAFs were carefully chosen by the Research Division based on their profiles and expertise. Their contributions help the College to become more diverse in terms of topics and viewpoints and perspectives.
All invitees contributed to various expert panels on topics such as the “Future of War” and the “Indo-Pacific”, moderated by NDC researchers, including NDC Research Director, Dr Florence Gaub and Senior NRAFs. Participants had the opportunity to present current projects or share key topics they believe should be prioritized for future work in their respective fields.
Representing a wide range of nations, the two days underscored the vital role of international expert collaboration in advancing the College’s research and shaping future strategic initiatives relevant to the NDC and NATO’s broader agenda.
