The educational cooperation between the NATO Defense College (NDC) and the Algerian École supérieure de guerre (ESG) continues: following an initial visit to Rome by the ESG Commandant in November 2012, NDC researchers Dr Florence Gaub and Dr Jean-Loup Samaan recently visited Algiers. From 26 to 28 March, they addressed a select audience of 120 participants at the ESG’s Senior Course. After well received lectures on NATO’s Mediterranean vision and on the Syrian crisis, Dr Gaub and Dr Samaan engaged in detailed discussion with their audience on a range of topics – from NATO’s Libya operation to its strategic vision for the Middle East and North Africa.
Exchanges of this kind enhance the strategic dialogue between NATO and its partner countries in the Mediterranean Dialogue, with the NDC providing significant expertise and support. The ESG was established eight years ago for the education of mid- to senior-level officers in the Algerian armed forces, as well as those of partner nations.
