On 30th October, NRCC-22 Course Members travelled to Naples to visit the Allied Joint Force Command HQ. The next day, they were welcomed by JFC Naples ACOS J9 Brig General Kloss who introduced them to JCFNP. Course Members received a briefing by Col Kemmerzel on the JFC mission, structures and activities, including on its ongoing operations in Iraq and in the Balkans; a JFCNP Joint Operations Command briefing on its structure and activities delivered by Col Bush; another briefing by Cpt Sener on the JFC Nato Mission in Iraq; and finally a JFCNP Military Partnership briefing delivered by Col Akcakaya. NRCC-22 Course Members also had the opportunity to visit the Nato Strategic Direction South Hub facilities.
The short visit to Naples, which followed the engaging discussions had with the NSD-S Hub officers at the NDC on the previous days, provided NRCC Course Members with insights into some of the most challenging current security issues in NATO’s Southern region, while at the same time giving them the opportunity to present their own perspectives on topics of interest for both NATO and its partners. It was also the occasion to discover the Naples coastline and enjoy some Neapolitan cuisine during a remarkable NRCC-22 dinner.
