On 12th and 13th March 2012, a group of 28 students attending a postgraduate course in Peacekeeping and Security Studies at the “Roma Tre” University Faculty of Political Sciences are visiting the NATO Defense College.
On the first morning of their visit, after a warm welcome from the Chief of the NDC Public Affairs Office Lt.Col. Masdea, the students attended a panel lecture together with Senior Course 120 and the seventh NATO Regional Cooperation Course (NRCC-7). The topic was “The United Nations”, addressed from different perspectives by Prof. Berdal (NOR) and Mr Garlasco (USA).
After the question-and-answer session with the two speakers, Lt.Col. Masdea accompanied the group on a guided tour of the premises, followed by an informative briefing on the College’s major activities and courses. At the end of their first day at the NATO Defense College, the students also had the chance to join the audience at a lecture on “The Comprehensive Approach” by the Director of the NRCC, Mr. Sandy Guptill (USA).
On the second day of their visit, the group from “Roma Tre” will attend a lecture in the Maynard-Thorn Auditorium by Dr Van Ham (NLD), whose subject will be “The European Union”.
The regular visits to the NDC by students from “Roma Tre” University offer them an excellent introduction to the College’s activities, affording a unique opportunity to learn more about NATO’s structure, mission and relations with other international organizations operating in the field of international security and peacekeeping.
