On day three of Field Study 2, Senior Course 138 made the virtual trip to Romania. Course Members received excellent insights into the nation’s defence, regional security perspectives and foreign policy priorities from high-ranking officials and defence experts.
The day started with welcome remarks by the NDC’s Commandant, LGEN Olivier Rittimann, followed by a welcome address delivered by COL Doina Muresan, Chief of the Romanian National Defence College. MGEN Vlad, Deputy Chief of Defence, examined security issues in the Greater Black Sea area and on NATO’s Eastern Flank. Mrs Letitia Postoli, Acting Director in the Defence Policy Directorate, Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, gave a talk on Romania’s contribution to various cooperation formats. The last contribution of the day came from Ms Irina Zidaru, General Director for Strategic Affairs, who provided an overview of Romanian Foreign Policy.
