The Italian Day of Senior Course 137’s first Field Study took place on 28 September at the NDC with representatives from various Italian ministries present.
Lieutenant General Olivier Rittimann welcomed the Italian authorities and thanked the host nation for its outstanding support to the NATO Defense College. He briefly spoke about the importance of Field Studies for Course Members to better understand how the Alliance and its partners work, before giving the floor to Major General Giovanni Iannucci who was representing the Italian Chief of Defence and the Italian Ministry of Defence.
The topics covered during the day were Italy’s Security, Terrorism and Defence Policies. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Defence and the Joint Operations Headquarters (COI) delivered presentations. This time, a new and very relevant topic on how Italy is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic was presented by the Italian Technical-Scientific Committee (CTS).
The presentations were followed by Q&A sessions to allow Course Members to interact and better understand the topics covered.
