
Senior Course 137 continues its virtual travels to different countries during its First Field Study. This time, the destination was the Netherlands to learn and to discuss the country’s approaches to security and defence.
On Friday 2 October, NATO Defense College Senior Course 137 conducted a successful virtual Field Study to the Netherlands. After an introduction by the Chief of Defence, Admiral Bauer, in which he emphasised the importance of cohesion, cooperation and diversity, the 54 Course Members from 22 nations were briefed on the Dutch view of international cooperation. The first lecture of the day was an introduction to the international military relations of the Netherlands.
Subsequently, CMs got a glimpse of the future, with a presentation on the draft white paper on the Netherlands defence up to 2035. The day concluded with a briefing on some future challenges : Information Manoeuvre and Cyber. The lectures of the day were followed by Q&A sessions.
