On 31st March 2014, a group of fourteen students from the Université Catholique de l’Ouest (Angers, France) visited the NATO Defense College (NDC).
The delegation was welcomed by Dr Guillaume Lasconjarias (FRA C) of the NDC Research Division.
The aim of this visit, by students following an MA course in “Conflictualité et Médiation”, was to gain a general overview of the activities and organization of the College.
Following an informative briefing on the NDC by the Director of Academic Operations, the visitors were given talks by two NDC researchers. First, Dr Guillaume Lasconjarias gave a presentation on current NATO issues, Smart Defence and the Connected Forces Initiative. Dr Jean-Loup Samaan (FRA C), Faculty Advisor at the NDC Middle East Faculty, then spoke about regional dynamics in the Middle East. Both presentations were concluded by a lively Q&A session and debate.
This visit gave the French delegation a first-hand insight into the NDC’s role as NATO’s premier academic institution.
